OUR IMPACT

We love being able to help others and our hope is to encourage others to do the same. When neighbors help neighbors, no one feels alone. We all need a helping hand at some point. When we help our neighbors, we make our community a better place. Below are some examples of the services we have provided. We hope you’ll be inspired to reach out for help or to volunteer to help your neighbor.

Note: In the examples below, please note that we have withheld names to protect the privacy of those who have been served.

“Defend the cause of the weak and fatherless; maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed.”

Psalm 82:3

Benefits of Volunteering
"Volunteering decreases the risk of depression. It gives a sense of purpose and teaches valuable skills. It helps people stay physically and mentally active. It may reduce stress levels. It may help you live longer. Volunteering helps you meet others and develop new relationships."

Relief is Needed
Unexpected events happen in every life. Sometimes we are physically unable to cope. Sometimes we are financially or emotionally unable to cope. These include but are not limited to a death of a spouse, a loss of job, an accident leaving you needing physical help, a medical event, or a storm that leaves you without the means to get your home back to normal. When everyone helps a little, no one needs to do a lot!
Called to Help
"Continually serving others is a form of expressing our faith in and to God. When we start to grow weary in our serving, we can be reenergized in our commitment by knowing that he sees us and he will not forget."

Help is Needed
"More than 15 million older adults are economically insecure. In 2019, nearly 6 in 10 older adults considered to be in fair or poor health had incomes below 200% of the poverty level, compared with about 3 in 10 older adults in good or excellent health."

Be a Blessing
"We were never meant to do life alone. We need the love and care of others, as much as we are needed by others in the same ways. Next time you see someone struggling under the weight of a burden, be sure to offer your time, resources, and strength as a blessing to that person."

Service is Needed
"Disability increases dependency and limits participation in society. 75 million people need a wheelchair on a daily basis. This represents 1% of the world’s population. That’s twice Canada’s population!"
Inclusive City Maker

Our opportunities for building have included wheelchair ramps and fences.

Wheelchair ramps makes it possible for disabled people to reclaim their freedom and to restore their ability to participate in the community.

Fences can help in many ways, including keeping precious young children and beloved pets from leaving the safety of home, keeping unsafe animals out, and being a deterrent to intruders.

Cleaning up sidewalks, yards, patios, gutters, you name it, we’ve done it.

When life is challenging, it isn’t unusual for the yard to get out of control.

Relief for the Weary can help get the yard back to manageable condition.

Once order is restored, it is much easier to get back on a regular maintenance schedule.

Our most requested form of help is for yard upkeep.

During a difficult time, someone taking over regular maintenance eases a burden and allows the individual’s focus to remain on the things that really matter.

We have had many opportunities to trim shrubs, trees, overgrowth etc.

We have cut up a few trees in our time and have been able to distribute the wood to low income families for much needed heat in the winter.

When a tree falls, it creates an unexpected situation that needs to be addressed.

Many people don’t have the equipment or knowledge to handle this type of situation.
